ESB / SCIENCE BLAST
THE BRIEF
ESB Science Blast is a national STEM initiative that helps kids explore big ideas through simple scientific questions.
Zoo asked us to create a high energy video campaign.
It needed real child curiosity.
It also had to connect to ESB sustainability themes like biodiversity and renewable energy.
What would make a parent stop scrolling and think, I want my kid involved in this?
HOW WE SHOT IT
We opened on a chorus of “Emmm…” and used it to kick off animated science moments.
Kids asked real questions on camera, backed by custom props, classroom setups, and illustration overlays.
We shot everything in one school and moved fast to capture hero scenes, experiments, and cutdowns.
SCOPE
We interrogated the brief and protected the budget so more showed up on screen.
We locked:
• The opening device: “Emmm…” as the hook for curiosity.
• The build: real kid questions supported by animation and illustration overlays. }
• The output plan: hero film plus cutdowns and stings for social.
SHOOT
Senior led production on the day.
One location: St. Brigid’s Boys’ National School, Foxrock.
We captured:
• Hero scenes
• Interactive experiments
• All cutdown moments
We kept every role on set earned by the brief.
SUPPORT
First cuts land close because the same senior lead scoped it and delivered it.
We delivered:
• Hero film
• Cutdowns
• 15 second and 5 second stings
• BTS film photography
We retained and organised project files so updates and re versions can happen without re onboarding.

THE WORK
One hero campaign film. Multiple cutdowns and short stings built for TikTok, Instagram, and Meta. BTS film photography for client use. A full deliverables set designed to stay useful after launch.

The campaign became a vibrant call to action for classrooms across Ireland.
It reached educators, parents, and students.
As of 2026, ESB has decided to run it 3 years in a row!
