ST MARY'S COLLEGE RFC / FOURTEEN YEARS

THE BRIEF

St Mary's College RFC qualified for the semi-final of the All-Ireland League.

The y wanted to document it. The real task sat underneath: honour a generational win for a 125-year-old club without leaning on broadcast footage, stock footage, or celebrity alumni.

So we built it the club's own way. Every frame original. Every voice a Mary's voice.

HOW WE SHOT IT

One full day of interviews at Templeville Road, cut against coverage from across the run: the semi-final win over Terenure, final week training, and the AIL Final itself.

We ran Last Dance-style iPad playback, so ten contributors reacted to the real moments on screen instead of reciting them.

Accredited pitchside at the Aviva. Three cameras. Club-first throughout.

SCOPE

We shaped the job as a tiered package that grew with the team's run through the competition.

Each tier folded in everything before it, so scope only expanded as the cup run did.

Coverage spanned the whole arc: training, the semi-final, final week, and the Aviva final, not a single shoot day.

The club rate held against the standard rate, protecting the budget while keeping the ambition high.

SHOOT

Senior-led on the day, lean crew, every role earned..

Gavin produced and directed on the day, with Mich Behan as DP.

One interview day at Templeville Road captured seven speaking subjects plus a visual bookend, ten voices in all.

iPad playback drove real, unrehearsed reaction, including the head coach breaking on camera as he watched the intercept back.

SUPPORT

We treated post as a documentary, not a quick turnaround, with a full asset bank behind it.

Delivery ran through Frame.io for review and Dropbox for club.

Match and training stills were selected and graded in-house, with the full match suite sent to the club the morning after the final.

A locked, transcript index keeps every line searchable for future cutdowns and reels long after wrap.

THE WORK

One documentary, around nine minutes, cut from a single interview day and coverage across the season.
Told entirely by the club, with no broadcast footage and no stock footage.

Alongside it, the full match stills suite: the semi-final at Templeville Road and the AIL Final at the Aviva, shot two-camera and delivered to the club the day after the win.

  • Documentary: 1 (9 min, 16:9 HD, 4K available)

  • Match stills: full suite from the semi-final, trainings and the Aviva final

“QUOTE”

The Proof

The match stills were in the club's hands the morning after the Aviva final: shot on 26 April, the first suite delivered by Dropbox on 27 April.

The documentary premiered to the club at Templeville Road on 16 July 2026, before public release on 17 July. St Mary's are giving it a permanent home on the club website, as part of the Mary's story.
